Community Involvement

Connecting our city across generations

Here in this photo, as Founder & President of the Waltham High School History Club, James organized a community gathering of Waltham High School students and Waltham World War II, Vietnam and Korean veterans at the local senior center.

Working together with our Non-Profit Community

James joined Waltham Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Erica Young and Rep. Stanley to celebrate the students who were awarded Club Members of the Month! Rep. Stanley also helped to secure $69,000 directly to the Club! It is always truly inspiring to continue to see, day in and day out, all of the work the Club does to cultivate a vibrant space where young people can thrive and actively participate in shaping their community.

Being Present in the Classroom

Connecting our city across languages

James visited his former teacher Señora Gamble's Spanish classroom to give a presentation in intermediate Spanish & English. It was truly inspiring to hear from students sharing what career path they envision for themselves, in accordance with their Spanish project. James speaks some Spanish, Italian, Swahili & Arabic.

Building bridges with our state and local partners

Congratulations to Plympton Elementary School for being recognized by the Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE) as a 2025 School of Recognition at the State House! James joined MA Secretary of Education Patrick Tutwiler, DESE Commissioner Pedro Martinez, Plympton Principal Adrienne Norris, Waltham Superintendent Marisa Mendonsa, Mayor Jeannette McCarthy, and State Rep. Tom Stanley. This award recognizes schools that have made tremendous strides towards annual accountability targets with a particular focus on ELA and Math. Go Penguins!
